“I was born and raised in Turkey and came from Istanbul in 2003 to Dallas, TX. My first serious attempt to Latin music was dancing Latin style back in Istanbul. The congas were the instrument that most attracted me and I decided to learn. Since then the clave was in my blood and continued to grow. The first year I arrived in Dallas, all I practiced was the clave and other fundamental Afro-Cuban rhythms and hanging out at the venues who had Latin music or Jazz. I learned a lot by sitting in and growing with other musicians. And, I am very thankful to the musicians who shared their knowledge and giving me a chance to grow.
I’ve been a student at University of Texas at Dallas as an undergraduate student in Informational System Management program. And, I was enrolled in a Masters of Fine Arts Program for the Arts and Technology Program that focused on Sound Design. I have three soundscapes for work of art at Dallas Museum of Art. I released a music album Dreamscapes in August 2010 in jazz, funk and world style.
I am also interested in psychology to learn about myself and others. I have been interested into Jungian Studies and this spiritual journey led me to understand my mind in a deeper level. I found myself swimming in the mystery of dreams to understand my inner world. So, I consider myself spiritually reborn in Dallas in the last eight years of my life. I recently produced a show about Dreams. Please check it out…”
